Laughing Gull Studio is a state of mind, really. It started to bubble up during my scientific illustration years at The Field Museum in Chicago. Recently the world of field sketching and watercolor has taken over my studio time. Laughing gulls are an inspiration to me with their graceful presence and ability to make a living in these interesting places.
I go outdoors, along the shore somewhere or into the woods, with a sketchbook and binoculars to see what’s going on, what I can learn and what catches my eye. Much of what you see here is a product of that kind of exploration.
